The capital of the island of Fuerteventura, Puerto del Rosario, is a reference as an administrative, commercial, cultural and leisure center, and it is here that the great infrastructures of the island territory are housed.
Its Sculptural Park, with more than 150 works scattered throughout the city, and the Street Murals Route, next to La Casa de La Cultura, the Juan Ismael Art Center, the Unamuno House Museum, the pedestrianised “Primero de Mayo” street and “Nuestra Señora del Rosario” Church, make Puerto del Rosario a city with a high cultural vocation, which projects the visual arts close to the citizen, occasional visitor or tourist.
One of the main attractions of the city is its wide range of shops and stores. It has a large shopping center and several areas open to the outside full of shops and restaurants where the task of shopping becomes a pleasant outdoor walk.
It is also possible to stroll through its open-air shopping areas or along the Maritime Avenue, where several destinations can be found – the solarium, the Los Pozos town beach, the Lime Kiln Ovens, and, at the end, Playa Blanca Beach, a beautiful beach with 800 metres of fine, golden sand bearing the distinctive Blue Flag, as does the Puerto Lajas Beach to the north of the capital.
